YEAR 3-6 EUCHARIST REFLECTION DAY

Last Wednesday, 4th May, our Year 3-6 students participated in a Eucharist Reflection Day. They enjoyed a number of group activities - the highlight being bread making (and eating of course).

This day was designed to help prepare our students who will be celebrating their First Communion on 19th or 20th May. All students in Years 3 -6 participated as a part of their Religious Education lessons.

The Good Shepherd.

In the busyness of our daily lives, time has become precious. One of the most valuable gifts you can give to yourself is time. Taking time to become truly present to the deeper world around us.

I am writing this after attending the funeral of a close girlfriend, Judy, who suddenly passed away last week. I share this story with you because it has reminded me of the importance of taking the time to slow down and not take anything for granted. It has reminded me of my responsibility, as a mother, wife, friend and teacher to care and love in a total and complete way. Grief can be a gift that encourages us to reset and remember how deep Jesus’ love for us really is.

Sunday May 8th was the Fourth Sunday of Easter (Year C) and known as Good Shepherd Sunday.

“My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”               John 10:27

Jesus offers a clear contrast among shepherds. He offers it between the ones who care deeply for those entrusted to their care, and those who are just going through the motions. I encourage you to reflect on how well you imitate the Good Shepherd. Where are you lacking? Let Him shepherd you so that you may shepherd others. Run to the Good Shepherd and trust in His perfect love for you.

As I sat there and listened to Judy’s children speak about their mum I couldn’t help but think that she was their Good Shepherd. Her wisdom and faith has guided them to be the individual, adventurous young adults that they are today.

Jesus, our Good Shepherd,

I thank You for your unwavering support of me as your shepherd and I thank you for Your unwavering support of me as my Shepherd. Help me to fulfill my role of shepherding Your people, the people you have placed in my life. May I never run from the responsibility You have called me to. Jesus I trust in you.
