Mother's Day

I hope all mothers had a wonderful Mother's Day on Sunday. Thank you to the P & F for organising the Mother's Day Stall and morning tea. Thank you to Claire Monique who supplied the beautiful door prize. More information about Claire is on the Community News page or you may like to check out her website: https://byclairemonique.com/

It was wonderful to see the morning tea so well attended.

Meet the Principal

Yesterday parents were invited via Operoo to book in for a meeting with me. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on St Joseph's School and how we can support you in your role as parents. I will be sending out another set of dates and times later in the term.

Operoo to Replace Konnective

We will stop using Konnective from Friday 20 May. Operoo's digital forms, payment and communication platform will replace Konnective in connecting schools and parents. Its extra features include excursion and event notices and approvals, personal details are kept up to date more efficiently and your details will carry over if your child goes to Padua in Year 7.

NAPLAN

The Year 3 and 5 students  are presently sitting the National Assessment Program - Literacy and Maths. NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process. It doesn’t replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance, but it can provide teachers with additional information about students’ progress. Results will be provided to schools from August onwards. We will then pass individual student reports onto families. When you receive your child's report, please put it in a safe place as you may be asked for a copy when enrolling your child in high school; we do not get a copy of this report.

School Cross Country Event

We had a wonderful community event on Monday at our Whole School Cross Country event. Thank you to all students, parents and staff who participated, volunteered and supported the event. Thank you to Mrs Jacqui Hayes for her organisation of the event. The winning house is announced on the PE page!

Resource Smart School Awards

Congratulations to Jane Byrne, our Sustainability Teacher,  as St Joseph's was announced as a finalist for our outstanding Sustainability Program. Read all about it on the Sustainability page of this newsletter.

Sacrament of Eucharist/First Communion

The Sacrament of Eucharist/First Communion will be celebrated on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 May at 6:00pm. Parents need to email their child's teacher and let them know what day they would prefer as soon as possible please.

Walk to School Day

Friday 20 May is National Walk to School Day. Breakfast will be served at school from 8:15am onwards. Students can choose to meet staff at the Sorrento Oval at 8:00am or walk with a parent from any location.

Grandparents' Day

As mentioned in the last newsletter, Grandparents/Special Friend Day will be held on Friday 3 June, starting with 9:15am mass.

Monica's Wedding

Congratulations to Monica Caddy and new husband Sam on their recent wedding. We wish them both every happiness.

Child Safety

Students arriving at school early will need to wait in the office until 8:40am as there is no staff supervising students in either the learning areas or outside until 8:40am.

There will no longer be a staggered finish time at the end of the school day. All students will finish at 3:20pm. The bus will still leave St Joseph's at 3:30pm.

Enjoy your week,

Monica
