Principal's Message

Good afternoon parents & carers,

Happy Easter and welcome back to Term 2.  I trust that all our families have had a wonderful (and more importantly relaxing) break and are ready for another term full of excitement, fun and lots of learning.

Thank you to all the families that supported the Anzac Day event.  It was lovely to see the large number of students that turned out to support and march as part of our St Philomena's School community.  Thank you and congratulations to students Sophie Lai (Year 8) and Kellam Joseph (Year 6) for their special contributions in the offical ceremony.

Earlier today the St Francis Xavier's Catholic Church was alive with music, singing and prayer as K-4 students celebrated the Feast Day of St Catherine of Sienna. Congratulations to the Year 4 Leaders of Learning and students for preparing this beautiful mass.  It almost brought a tear to my eye being part of such a special celebration as the students, and parents, filled the church.  It truly was a taste of how our faith life should be at St Philomena's and just how much COVID-19 has had an impact on this important aspect of our school community.

With Mother's Day just around the corner, its great to see the gifts coming in to support this years P&F Mother's Day Stall.  If you haven't already, please help out by purchasing and donating a small gift for the stall.  Thank you to Mrs Allison Turner and her support team, for their commitment to this wonderful event for our students (and ultimately our mums).  Your dedication is very much appreciated!

It is wonderful to see all our students back after the term break full of life and laughter and ready to tackle the many learning challenges ahead of them.  NAPLAN is only a few weeks away for our Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 students and we wish all our students in these year groups every success as they complete these assessments.

Have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing many of our parents at the Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences evenings over the coming weeks.

God bless
