Year 12s

Welcome

We hope everyone is well in the current climate and adjusting to remote learning.  Karen and Carole from the Careers Team can be reached via email: riding.karen.k@edumail.vic.gov.au, marcianti.carole.m@edumail.vic.gov.au to assist with any careers enquiries.

 

Although you are working remotely, it is still important that you continue to research options and plan for post Year12.

 

Please remember the Koonung Careers Website, https://www.koonungcareers.com.au , has a number of resources and links that will support students and their parents navigate through this process.

 

Students can access the Koonung Careers website to explore career options through Quizzes, Careers targets, the Good University Guide, and the VTAC website.

 

Year 12

VTAC update on COVID-19

A dedicated page for COVID-19 updates is available on the VTAC website. This page will be regularly updated as new information becomes available. 

Students are encouraged to download the VTAC app to support them research courses and plan for course applications which open later in the year.

 

University and TAFE handbooks

Recently, many of the institutes released their 2021 handbooks.  These handbooks provide information about the courses they offer and entry requirements.

Year 11

Year 11 individual Career Interviews will be commencing this week via zoom with Karen and Carole.

Career Interviews will be on students Compass schedules. Year 11 students are required to have their Career Action Plan completed and uploaded to their Year Level Assembly Learning Task.

 

Year 10

During Term 1, as part of the Pathway program, the Year 10 students had a guest presenter, James Lynch.  James ran an engaging Interview Skills workshop for the students, providing lots of hints and tips on resume writing, how to prepare for an interview and the dos and don’ts when being interviewed. Year 9

Live Life’s Life group were visited by the Department of Education and Training (DET) to rollout the Department’s new Eportfolios and Career Action Plans for Year 9 students.  Students spent time completing their Career Action Plans.

 

During Live Life (Life Group), Year 9 students took part in Mock Interviews. Volunteers from the Mont Albert Rotary Group visited the school to interview the Year 9 students. Each student prepared a resume and cover letter for a given job description. It was a great afternoon with both students and rotary members saying it is was a great experience.

ACU Community Achiever Program (CAP)  

The Community Achiever Program (CAP) awards prospective students an early conditional offer to study their preferred undergraduate course at ACU. Applicants will show a demonstrated history of regular volunteering experience and a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of others. 

CAP applications open on Friday 1 May 2020 and successful students could receive an offer to study with us as early as September!  Learn more about CAP
