Measuring Maths

Year 7 Maths

7A3 students had a busy session for their last maths class of the year.  Their challenge was to make a square metre using only measuring tapes, newspaper , sticky tape and glue.

Working in pairs or groups of three, the whole class made their square metre quickly.

The next task was to then make a cubic metre, which was a little more challenging and time consuming.  Students combined their resources to produce the framework for a cubic metre.

Then last challenge was to fit as many students into the cubic metre as possible.

This was a great activity for helping students really visualise and experience, how big a cubic metre is.
