Building Community

Research shows that where communities work together they grow in understanding and work towards achieving common goals. Being part of a community involves contributing in positive ways.  It is great to see the number of very active parents on the Parents and Friends Association committee working together to provide experiences and opportunities to contribute to the Aitken Community. The outdoor movie night was a huge success, a number of other activities are occurring in the next few weeks; the Hot Cross Bun Fundraiser, Pre-loved Uniform sale, Spin Classes and the sale of the Entertainment Books.

Performing Arts Captains Concert 2019

The Performing Arts Captains, Cameron and Jack are busy putting together their concert to be held on the last Tuesday of Term 1.  They are using the concert to fundraise and support White Ribbon Australia. This is a  part of a global movement of men and boys working to end men’s violence against women. White Ribbon is a not-for-profit organisation that works through a primary prevention approach in schools, workplaces and communities across Australia. I encourage you to come along to the concert and be entertained by a high quality range of acts.

Bullying. No Way! Campaign

This week Mr Forward spoke to students regarding the National Day of Action against bullying and violence. The 'Bullying. No Way! take action everyday' campaign is a reminder to students about understanding how their actions and words and online practices can impact others. Aitken College was one of 5,726 schools involved in working to empower students to be part of the solution. That showing compassion, respect and kindness, some of our College values, can make our community work together harmoniously.
