Classroom News - Year 6

Anthony Kelly
Last Friday, Year 5 and 6 were fortunate to have Anthony Kelly visit our school and share his accomplishments as a martial artist and world record holder with us. He is often called the 'Arrow Catcher', and is renowned for his fast reflexes, in particular his ability to catch fast moving items. Anthony demonstrated to the students the exercises he uses to train his reflexes and entertained us with stories of his travels and the people he has met. Anthony's message to the students was that 'we can do anything if we set our mind to develop our bodies.'

This term, Year 6 will be exploring the themes and visual techniques used in the text - The Watertower by Gary Crew. The students' initial responses about the text were interesting and our classroom discussions have been insightful. Below are a few samples of student responses.
I was so excited to find out what happened next. I felt that the author is very clever because there's suspense on every page making me want to read more. I felt this because of the vocabulary, the pictures and the symbols used in the story. Mia Vaughan
The story made me feel interested, confused, surprised and it left me wondering what would happen next. Some of the pictures of the people look kind of creepy. Sharlett Carson
The message in the story is don't explore dangerous places that you don't know and don't go by yourself because if something happens, no one will be able to help. Chase Hawkins
