Classroom News - Year 4

Year 4
Another week has been and gone! We are well into our units for Term 3, in fact it seems so long ago that we relaxed and enjoyed the holidays...The children have been working well in all areas of their learning.
In Religion we are exploring the way in which Mary listened and responded to God in her life. It highlights the importance and challenge in the our lives of listening and reflecting and trusting in the ways of God. It explores prayers and feast days as ways in which the Church honours Mary, the Mother of God.
We are focusing on Explanation texts at the moment - reading, determining the structure and the language used, and writing our own. Our Big Write homework this week is to share their writing from last weeks session. The children are encouraged to up-level their work, ready for publishing in Thursdays Big Write lesson. In Maths we are focusing on Fractions. Both classes are reading, making and writing both simple and equivalent fractions. Our Science unit this term we are trying to explain how energy is transferred from one place to another, and how forces affect objects and the behaviour of a product or system. The children are enjoying the hands-on activities with magnets. In History we are gaining an understanding of what life was like in Australia before the Europeans arrived.
Our term has started well!
