2019 Leadership Interviews

Leadership interviews are now taking place. There has been an overwhelming amount of nominations for each position. Please note that not all nominees are interviewed as there is a selection process involved. Students interviewed are students who have displayed a positive attitude to the College and its rules, demonstrated an awareness of College values, demonstrated courtesy to all, have good communication skills, have been involved in a variety of areas of College life and have displayed perseverance and resilience in all areas. Interviews started with applications for School Captains and we are now working our way through the other positions. Some students may be offered a position they did not nominate themselves for as they may demonstrate the qualities needed for that particular position. It is then up to the student whether they accept the position or not. Congratulations to all students who applied and I encourage them to continue to apply for positions that arise in the future. Students and parents will be advised by mail on the outcome. Good Luck to all!

Assessment and Work

This is a very busy time of the year. Assessments are taking place and it is still school as usual until the final day, Wednesday 12 December. Please ensure your child attends school until then. Teachers will be continuing to issue work up until the final days. Even work that is not an ‘assessment piece’ is very important and is a learning experience. In many cases, in the last couple of weeks, students are introduced to work that they will be completing in their next year of schooling.

Parenting Ideas

On the topic of assessment and work, we know that some students can become anxious or overwhelmed around these times. Please work with your child to let them understand that what we really want is ‘their best’.  If they are giving their absolute best, then what more can we ask for?

Mr Michael Grose (founder of Parenting Ideas – www.parentingideas.com.au ) also suggests some ideas to help prevent anxiety, stress or feeling overwhelmed. He suggests:
