Celebrating Arts At Aitken

Last week more than 250 students took to the stage in three concerts celebrating the wonderfully rich and diverse range of Performing Arts at the College.

The outdoor stage for the Twilight Evening saw students from Years 1 through to Year 12 sharing their love of Music. In P33, students undertaking private music lessons staged an intimate concert, some of them performing publicly for the first time.

On Thursday night, the Director’s Choice Gala Concert featured almost 60 students from Years 4 to Year 12, showcasing work from Media, Dance, Music and Theatre.

I am incredibly grateful to the Performing Arts staff and many other staff who support our students in sharing their talents with us all. And to the parents who are a constant source of encouragement.

Simply The Best

After our Music students travelled to join other schools earlier in the year, next week, we are hosting our own inter-school band festival. Take the best local talent from throughout the Hume LGA and what do you get? Simply the best music in Melbourne’s North West! Simply The Best Vol.18, is a showcase of the region’s hottest up-and-coming musicians from across five local schools. The Aitken College Chapel and Performing Arts Centre will come alive to the sound of rock, pop and everything in between in this diverse gala event.  Tickets are free but we ask that you go to https://www.trybooking.com/YXLV and reserve your spot for what we hope will become a regular event on the calendar.

Cumberland School Concert

Tickets go on sale Monday 12 November for the Cumberland School Concert, 'You’re The Voice'. There are two performances on Tuesday 27 November and Thursday 29 November at 7.30pm. As in previous years, to ensure all families have fair access to tickets, please limit your booking to a total of six tickets per family. There are usually some extra tickets available and we will let you know when you are welcome to book more.

Farewell Ms Thomson

This week we are saying goodbye to Ms Beth Thomson as she heads off to have her baby. We wish her, Mitch and Max well with the pending arrival. Replacing Beth for the remainder of the year, we are happy to welcome back Ms Claire Colthup.
