School Council Update

Dear Parents,

Our Annual Public Meeting for 2021 will be conducted via Zoom for our community due to the current COVID restrictions.  The meeting will be held at 5:00pm on Wednesday August 18 with a XUNO message containing the Zoom details coming out via Xuno. At this meeting, the 2020 Annual Report to the School Community will be unpacked, as will the 2021 Annual Implementation Plan. If you are interested in joining the meeting please use the link to do so.

Exciting news! Our new all access playground is finally finished.  After a multitude of delays due to COVID-19, our playground is finally ready. In fact some students and staff took it for a test drive during their time in at school during remote learning last week.

The temporary fence will be removed once the lawn seed has had a chance to germinate and then away we go! It has been a long time coming, but I'm sure you will agree it was worth the wait. We have attached a short video of it for you to look for yourself.

Speaking of playgrounds, all of the students have now had the opportunity to vote on the next playground we are due to install outside of The Hive.  Those votes, as well as the costs, and pros and cons of each design were all discussed at the recent Buildings and Grounds sub-committee meeting. By next newsletter I should have the result ready for you so stay tuned!

The Buildings and Grounds sub-committee also discussed the upgrade to all of the lights in the car park and surrounds which will make entry to and from OSHC safer as well as increase staff safety going to and from the car park.

The Education and Community sub-committee also met recently to discuss the results of the recent camp survey we sent out to parents. We had a great response from our community which gives us lots to think about moving forward. As we make decisions around this we will of course keep you informed.

Finally, the Finance and Governance sub-committee met recently with TheirCare for our 6 month feedback meeting.  Having taken over at the start of term two, and having been very supportive of the school throughout multiple lockdowns, council are very happy with how TheirCare has transitioned so seamlessly into becoming our OSHC provider.
