Misinformation Online

Misinformation or "Fake News", as it’s often called, is something we as adults find difficult to recognise and deal with. Imagine how our young people navigate it? More and more people are going online to source their news and so misinformation can be a real problem.

It is worth talking to your children about how you yourselves determine the validity of what you are reading online – What is the source? Is it reputable? Does it show both sides of the argument?

Unfortunately, fake news, due to its often evocative and provocative nature, spreads frighteningly faster than real news. So be on the look out and start having the conversation now.
