Same Old Restrictions, New Staff and Long Worms...
The new look library
We must continue to follow the directions of the Department of Education as we all deal with the impact of the dreaded Corona virus. No visitors, and that includes parents and carers, are allowed on the grounds of the school, except in approved circumstances. We sincerely apologise for all the inconveniences the restrictions cause, but we must adhere to the departmental guidelines. We will always strive to keep all children and staff at Larnook PS safe and healthy.
We welcome Jess Fish, an already familiar face to the children, to the Butterflies class. Miss Fish will be teaching the senior class each Monday and Friday for the rest of the year. Mrs Mac will continue to teach on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Jess provides a whole new skill set to our school and is looking forward to sharing her skills and knowledge with the children.
The library has had a makeover, and what an improvement it has been! The new colours of soft lilac, with a complementary purple trim, have made the feeling of being in the library really quite relaxing! Perfect conditions to read and browse in. Thank you so much to Rusty, our General Assistant, (who also keeps the extensive grounds of our school looking impeccable) for spending time above and beyond his working hours to make this a restful place for the children to enjoy literature.
This week the Butterflies (class 3-6) tried a little persuasive writing. The children had a rather tricky task – they had to convince others to support the conservation of the Giant Gippsland Earthworm! Yes, an earthworm… and it is up to 3 metres long and only in Gippsland, Victoria! It was a challenging job, particularly as we watched the rather confronting video of this long and unattractive creature slither through underground tunnels. (Disgusting was the word Myrtle used!) They all did a great job and here are some examples by Myrtle, Coby, Kirra and Issi. We hope you’re convinced!
