MR JEREMY WOOD - ARTS DOMAIN LEADER
This was my first time teaching this course and I have to say there was a lot of face pulling and sniggering all throughout the semester (I’ll elaborate on that in a moment). The course itself is designed to give the student a foundation in the principles of visual design and storytelling. Both 2D and 3D realms of design are explored through creative and retro pixel art to 3D modelling, and animation and character design. Using industry software such as Photoshop, Animate and Character Animate, students were able to create their own character, develop a storyboard, and edit their performance. Character Animate is a software that mimics the student’s facial expressions and they were able to record their voices (hence the face pulling). Here are some snippets of their character designs, development, and performances.
