Message from the

Principal

Here we are in another lockdown and unfortunately, it would seem these have become part of our normal everyday lives. While remote learning is not our preferred mode of teaching and something we are not trained in, I'm very impressed with our quickly my staff can move to remote learning particularly given the little notice we receive from the Government. As always, my staff and I thank you for your patience and support particularly those of you who while trying to juggle a job at the same time as supporting your child's learning.

On a personal note, it has been particularly challenging for my family and I, as we adjust to quarantine after a COVID-19 outbreak at my son's school. We are currently living in an apartment while our house is being renovated which has made quarantine a little more challenging. This has been an important time of reflection in appreciating the simple things in life that we often take for granted as well as realising the things you can live without. I look forward to being released from quarantine Thursday night and returning to school on-site on Friday.

Prior to going into lockdown the staff and I participated in a Staff Wellbeing Professional Development Day on our School Closure Day. The professional development was delivered by Katrina Burke who is a leadership and life coach. Katrina has been working with us over the last couple of years particularly before and after lockdowns. This session was focused on maintaining and improving our positive school culture. The culture of our school is a vital part of St Bridget's and something that is highly valued by our community. This session was a time for staff to reflect, reveal and reset. We focused on the behaviours, skills, dispositions, and attributes of individuals and of the team that contributes to a positive and quality school culture.

Following the session with Katrina, we had an opportunity as a staff to relieve our stress and develop our creative thinking skills through painting. At the Art Gallery Ladder Art Space, we participated in a guided painting class. It was a lovely opportunity to come together as a team, to relax, and to create something quite amazing.

Recently, the Annual Report to the Community for 2020 was completed. This is a legislative requirement set by the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) and is a summary of the activities that occurred at our school last year. This document has been submitted to the Melbourne Archdiocese for Catholic Schools (MACS) and uploaded to our school website. A copy of the document is below for your reference.

Please keep safe and well.

Kind regards
