Grade Four

It’s wonderful to be back into the classroom after Remote Learning 5.0! Seeing the students' smiling faces excited to be back again warms our hearts. We are incredibly proud of their resilience and flexibility through uncertain times.

Since we have returned to school, the Grade 4s have been extremely busy finishing our multi curricular unit which involved developing and designing a new frog pond for OPS. Students worked collaboratively in teams to create a map, corresponding budget, and an explanation which they presented to the Principal Team. The best group’s design will be chosen by the Principal Team and will be built over our existing frog pond.

In Maths, students explored area and mapping to create a scaled map of their Frog Pond. Students also learnt how to calculate money and researched items from Bunnings to include in their budget of their design. In Integrated, students researched their materials and plants that are suitable for a successful frog pond. They also gathered additional information during our field trip to the Retarding Basin located behind the school. In English, students developed an explanation text, outlining the key features of their groups' frog pond design and the importance of including their chosen materials.

The Grade 4s have also been loving getting into the Olympic spirit! It is such an exciting time for us to watch athletes from around the world compete. It has provided a great opportunity to incorporate this celebration into our English, Maths, and Integrated units.
