2021 Australian Geography Competition

2021 Australian Geography Competition 

This year 43 GWPS Year 6 students participated in the Australian Year 7 – 10 Geography Competition. The students competed against 73,000 students across the nation and were assessed in three cognitive processes, knowledge, applying and reasoning.  The curriculum assessed was from the Australian Curriculum beginning at level 7. 

Once again our students achieved excellent results, demonstrating knowledge of concepts, ability to compare, contrast and classify, and to reason, using evidence and geographic understanding to analyse, synthesise and generalise. 

Overall,  our students must be commended on their achievement as a considerable amount of the content tested has not been directly taught. Our students scored an average of 2% points below the average Year 7 results and we had some outstanding individual results.
