1B

                        By Mr Robert Lou

The incredible students of 1B have made a smooth and successful transition back to learning onsite, after a two-week LFH period. They have been excited to return to school and are continuing to deepen their understanding of our Biological Sciences, through the Inquiry question of, ‘Why do we need to look after the environment?’

Students in 1B and across the cohort had the opportunity to plant and take care of their own little seedlings, utilising their understanding of plants and their needs for survival. Through this Inquiry transfer project, they learned a range of strategies for looking after plants. Students were brimming with smiles and the classroom buzzing with excitement during the sessions we planted our seedlings! As a part of their learning, 1B developed a range of skills connected to the Science Curriculum, such as predicting outcomes, posing questions, recording observations, and generating explanations.

Below are some of 1B’s students’ learning reflections:

Ronith: I observed that the soil looks and feels dry. That is probably why my plant has not grown. I didn’t put enough water because of learning from home.

Tiana: The plant is tiny and looks like it has fallen down. I think there was not enough sunlight, since it was cloudy weather.

Nanki: When we came back from learning from home, I noticed that my plant started to grow after I started giving it some water. If I put it outside, it could get more sunlight and air.
