Foundation Miss Bennett

The Foundation students loved starting Term 3 off with a BANG by participating in swimming week. Miss Bennett was so impressed with how they had a 'Red Hot Go' at swimming and were super organised each day by looking after their swimming bag. This was their first time at swimming week at school and they absolutely smashed it! Great job everyone.

In the classroom the students have been getting stuck into their writing, learning about subtraction and length and also learning some new sign language to help with their RE unit 'I am special, so are you'. If you haven't seen it yet, ask your child about showing their new sign language knowledge, it's super impressive.

With a very busy term ahead all Foundation students have continued to be super excited to learn new things and see what this Term has in store for them.

What an EPIC start to Term 3 already! The 1-2s thoroughly enjoyed their time at the Echuca pool each day. We felt extremely grateful for the opportunity to spend our week enhancing our prior knowledge and learning new skills in the water. We were all very tired after the huge week in the pool, however, we are feeling ready and excited to get the new term underway! We can’t wait to show you what’s in store for the remainder of Term 3.

Here were some of the best bits from our week at Swimming:

Francis - “Jumping in the deep end and catching the hoops under the water.”

Edith - “Jumping off the diving board and catching the ball in the air. I also really liked doing laps of the pool with my noodle.”

Marla - “Making a whirlpool with the whole class.”

Zara - “Diving off the diving board.”

Sophie - “Diving off the diving board.”

Addie - “Absolutely everything!”

Stevie - “Learning new swimming strokes.”

Jaxon - “Jumping off the diving board and making a whirlpool with the whole class.”

Liam - “Jumping off the diving board.”

Oonagh - “Swimming in the deep end.”

Grade 3-4 Mrs Stock

What a great start to Term 3 we had with Swimming Week!! It was so lovely to see all the students so excited and eager to go swimming. All the kids had heaps of fun at both the pool and the park. Super proud of all the 3/4's for their engagement and behaviour.

Grade 3-4 Mrs Crosbie

Since returning from term break the Gr 3/4 students have been exploring fractions.

Last week we used smarties to help us understand fraction language and the parts of a fraction.

We counted our smarties to determine our denominator, we then separated and counted our colors to work out our numerators for each fraction part. We wrote the fractions for each colour part represented in our smartie box. Lucas, Kane and Colman informed us that Mr Naylor had told them that the fraction bar can also be referred to the vinculum. We have been using all this fraction terminology while working with fractions in class.  This week we have been exploring equivalent fractions. We made a fraction wall and have used a polypad to help us understand fractions that are equivalent to each other. The polypad is an ipad program that allows us to place fraction parts over larger fraction parts to support us in understanding equal fractions.

Grade 5-6 Miss Rasmussen

We loved our swimming lessons in the first week of term. We have also loved learning about our school production that will take place this term - 'Story Time Showdown'. We have enjoyed learning about how the production will work and also reading through the script. Auditions for main roles are currently taking place and we can't wait to get started on learning the whole performance.

Our Sport & Health Team had a great meeting with Rachael from Kyabram District Health Services about how they can implement ideas throughout our school to encourage healthy eating. They can't wait to share their ideas and activities with you all.

We have the 5/6 Winter Sports on Friday where we will be playing either netball or soccer with students from schools in our area. We will also share our prayer with the school community on Tuesday with a focus on important figures in the Catholic Church.
