Message From Our Principal

Mrs Jackie Stockdale

Welcome back to Term 3! As we begin this new chapter of the academic year, I am thrilled to extend a warm and enthusiastic welcome to all our students and their families. We hope you had a restful and rejuvenating break, and we are excited to embark on another exciting journey of learning and growth together. This term promises to be filled with enriching experiences, new discoveries, and meaningful connections. Our school is not just a place of academic excellence, but also a close-knit community that values kindness, respect and learning. As we come together again, let us remember the importance of supporting one another, fostering a positive and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered.

I would like to let you all know that I will be taking long service leave this term. My long service leave will commence from Monday the 31st of July to Friday the 11th of August. During this period, I will be away from the school to recharge and refresh, ensuring that I return with renewed energy and enthusiasm to continue supporting the growth and development of our students and the school as a whole.

In my absence, Stephanie Hayes (Monday's & Tuesday's) and Katie Rasmussen (Wednesday's, Thursday's and Friday's), will assume the role of Acting Principal. They both have a wealth of experience and will ensure the smooth functioning of the school during my absence. You can rest assured that the high standards of education and care we uphold will remain unaffected.

During these two weeks, if you have any concerns or queries, please don't hesitate to contact Stephanie Hayes or Katie Rasmussen.

Last week, our students had the fantastic opportunity to participate in the school's swimming program, and their engagement and enthusiasm were truly outstanding. The program aimed not only to develop their swimming skills but also to promote physical fitness, water safety awareness, and a sense of teamwork. I am proud to report that our students wholeheartedly embraced the program, displaying exceptional dedication and enthusiasm throughout the sessions. They showed remarkable progress in their swimming abilities and quickly overcame any initial hesitations, demonstrating courage and resilience.

Parents can now book Term 3 Learning Conversations on PAM/SIMON Everywhere. This is a great opportunity to reflect on your child's Term 2 learning goals, Term 3 learning goals and their Semester 1 report. For those students who have a Parent Support Group (PSG) meeting, these will take place in Week 6.  We believe that open communication and collaboration between parents and teachers are crucial for the success and growth of our students. Learning Conversations are an important step towards fostering a strong partnership in their academic journey.

A reminder that Monday 24th of July is a curriculum day and students are not required at school. During this day the staff will be enhancing their skills in the areas of reading and writing success with Jocelyn Seamer.

Yesterday students took home their tickets to sell for our annual 'Wood Raffle': If your family requires additional raffle booklets just see Emma or Teresa in the office.

Good luck to Deklen Key and Lucas Pyke who will be participating in the next stage of the Lions Club Public Speaking Competition on Sunday. As they step onto the stage, they carry not only their own aspirations but also the pride and reputation of the school, and I have no doubt that they will do themselves and our school proud. Let's hope that the students' hard work, dedication, and preparation pay off, and that they deliver impactful speeches that captivate the audience and impress the judges. Regardless of the results, the experience gained from participating in such events is invaluable and will serve them well in their future endeavours.

The Dental Van is scheduled to be onsite at school on 26th July. Those students who returned the appropriate paperwork last term will visit the dental van on this date.

On the 27th of July all of our students have been invited to attend a magician performance and workshop at St Augustine's College Kyabram. Introducing children to the world of learning through a magician's interactive and captivating methods offers a myriad of benefits that go beyond just entertainment. Magicians possess a unique ability to weave enchanting stories and create a sense of wonder, which naturally engages young minds. Through their performances, children are exposed to essential cognitive and social skills, enhancing their overall learning experience. Magicians promote critical thinking as students try to unravel the secrets behind their tricks, encouraging curiosity and problem-solving abilities. It will also be a great opportunity for our students to interact and play with new peers.

On the 1st August our foundation students will celebrate 100 days of school. This celebration not only serves as a moment of reflection on the progress made so far but also offers an opportunity to showcase the growth and achievements of each student. Throughout these 100 days, our students have blossomed academically, socially, and emotionally, and their dedication to learning has been commendable. As teachers and parents, we take immense pride in witnessing their development and resilience. This occasion allows us to reinforce the joy of learning and inspires our students to continue their quest for knowledge with enthusiasm and determination as they embark on the rest of their academic journey.

On the 28th July a RACV educator will be visiting our school to implement the RACV Safety Squad Program. This program aims to empower students to stay safe both at home and on the roads. Themes covered include passenger safety, pedestrian safety, bike safety and identifying hazards in the home.
