Belonging, Being & Becoming. Providing Play and Leisure experiences that give opportunities for children and young people to learn as they discover, problem solve, create, improvise, imagine and act with confidence.

We would like to begin by acknowledging the traditional owners of the land on which we are meeting today, the Woiwurrung, Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, and pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

Week 3, Term 3, July 28th 2023

Hi! I'm Emily from OSHC, and have been here since 2019, but before that I attended Ivanhoe Primary as a student. I have also recently started up in the main office one day per week, as I enjoy the admin and organisation side of OSHC and the office.

Besides the behind the scenes parts of OSHC, I really enjoy creative games that students come up with. For example, at Before Care I have a blast playing different variations of tag games, whatever the children decide to play that day.

At After Care, I like joining in on make-believe games, or just having chats with whoever is there on the day! I would say that the most rewarding part of being an educator is forming the relationships with the individual children. This week has been extra special because Wednesday was National OSHC Educators Day! All of us educators have appreciated all of the extra gratitude across the week.

My favourite part of the week was a the students writing post-it notes on why they appreciate one or more of the educators - it was lovely to read. Before Care has also been taken over by Hama Beads. I've loved seeing the beautiful creations that children make, especially knowing how tricky they are to try and work with. At After Care, we have continued to have heaps of sport. Soccer and basketball are staples, but tennis and badminton have been recent favourites!

Thanks Emily and also congratulations on becoming assistant admin up at the office!    Well done and I'm glad you are still part of OSHC too!                                                                       Also thanks to Sarah who has been working hard to spoil the Educators rotten for Educators' Day!  I may have bought them some treats as well...

Our educators do such a fantastic job each and everyday to provide a fun, engaging and caring environment for each child who attends the program. The effort that goes into developing relationships with each student is fantastic and their ability to organise and plan activities that all children can participate in is second to none. We could not run the program without them, so thank you to our Amazing OSHC Educators.

I've had so much fun this week too, helping the students sew their designs, fashion skirts, pillows and scarfs.  Rectangles are interesting shapes to sew and can be used for so many things!

Just a short entry this week! Have a great weekend! Take care and see you next week!

I've got to go and service my sewing machine now!

Bye Bye!
