Here are some examples of the poems we have written:
Amazon rainforest
By Sebastian h
Towering trees above my head.
All the fruits I had were red.
Lots of strong, heavy rain.
The Amazon Rainforest is where I came.
Basketball
By Daniel
The giant clock was slowly ticking,
The game was up and kicking.
There was only ten seconds left,
And losers we were not admitting.
I was in the key,
and it went in like ‘swish’.
You want to challenge me?
I’ll cook you like a dish.
Green
By Jimmy Scholl
Green is the peace of the world
Green is the greatest feeling
Green allows us to live
Green lets us keep moving forward
Green lets the world come alive
If we didn’t have green we would be none.
Tesla Coils
By Caleb.Y
Electrocuting static
Thousands of volts and amps
Tesla Coils are automatic
They can power a million lamps
Making many sonic booms
Lightning bolts bigger than two hundred looms
These towering beasts, so shockingly powerful
Tesla Coils, legendary machines
AFL
Harvey
My passion is AFL football,
My passion is to win a grand final,
I want to play with new friends,
I want to hear the roar of the crowd when I kick my first goal,
I want to be appreciated,
I want do go down as one of the greatest players in the AFL,
I want to be like my dad.
A tropical place
By Annabelle
Warm and humid in the air
With palm trees everywhere
Nowhere is better than a tropical place
Where you can relax and slow down the pace
Sand sinks in between your toes
And the ocean waves come and go
Blue
By 5SB
The colour blue is the sky, water, rain and sadness that surrounds the world.
It is like rain falling from the sky.
A blue sparkling sapphire shining above me.
The sea as it is glistening in the sun.
The icy winter is a statue of sadness.
Rain in winter comes down as fast as a cheetah can run.
Winter was as cold as ice.
A waterfall sang in the night sky.
My tears rolled down my cheeks as fast as the stormy harsh sea.
A blue uniform sat sadly in the washing machine.
The blue puddle was waiting patiently to be stepped on.
My blue pencil drew a life of its own.
The colour blue is a mysterious dark sea to me.
Homework (AA BB CC DD couplet)
I can feel the horrible dread,
Starting in my head.
I’m hoping my teacher will forget,
Or they will have to deal with my maggot.
When the teacher is checking our homework,
I want to put her on my stonework.
As she slowly walks around the corner,
I just wish I was in my sauna.
(Mila and Angelina)
Matthew (AA BB CC couplet)
There once was a boy who liked to draw.
Then he drew a monster with a great, big claw.
One day the drawing came to life.
It began to chase him with a sharpened knife.
Matthew was brave and lion-hearted.
That was when the battle started.
(Diva, Hamish, Fiona)
Seasons (AA BB A)
In the summer I feel warm.
In the winter I sense a storm
In the Spring I sing.
In the Autumn I bring,
An umbrella though it’s torn.
(Mia and Hazel)
Joe with the Bucket of Doe (Limerick AA BB A)
There once was a boy called Joe,
Who ate a bucket of dough.
He lost his kidney,
Then flew to Sydney.
But still had the bucket of doe.
(Luka, Hugo and Luke)
Dad with the Bag (AA BB A)
There once was a dad who had a bag.
He dragged it across the rugged rag.
Then he took it outside the house.
Then out popped the mouse with a tiny house.
He dragged the mouse across the rugged rag in a bag.
(Naton and Eamon)
Joe said ‘No’(Free verse)
There once was a boy named Joe.
His expectations were very low.
One day his friend shared an idea.,
And for once he said ‘No’.
That idea is not for me. Now I have to go.
(Poppy)
A Princess Indeed (Elsa!)
Blonde hair and all,
Castles tall.
Meadows of flowers, with icy, cold powers.
Flawlessly singing with her bell ringing,
Her butler came,
With his beardy mane.
What do you need?” he said.
“Change my tower to red.”
(Aashna)
Dancing (A B A B A)
Jump, wiggle, clap, the whole crowd was twirking back.
As I was dancing on the stage I knew this would be on my TikTok page.
I blushed, looking flushed as I took my plush. “You look like a kid!” Fred said.
I didn’t want to be in this so I fled.
(Mmesoma 5L).
Old McGucket (Free verse)
Dear old McGucket,
Lived in a bucket,
Surviving on Leon’s shoe.
One day he heard a deafening moo.
Moo, moo, moo, moo, moo, moo, moo.
T’was starled and bashed himself with a large locket.
And that was the day McGucket kicked his own bucket.
(Leon)
Rain (Free verse)
Drip, drip falling down.
Pitter, patter on the window.
Cuddled up snug in bed.
Eyelids slowly dripping down, down.
(Edith)
