BPS Girls Part of the Women's Soccer World Cup

Last week 3 lucky BPS girls got the opportunity to join in the celebrations for the Women’s Soccer World Cup which is taking place in Australia and New Zealand in 2023.

Charlotte Witham (4B), Sienna Rollason (3A) and Clementine Oliver (3A) are all members of Brighton Soccer Club and were all involved at AAMI Park as player escorts at the start of the Nigeria v Canada game.

The girls got to walk out with the teams in front of a large crowd, stand with the players during their national anthems, before watching the game and they all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

The girls could be inspired to emulate Sam Kerr and the rest of the Australian team and we may have some future Matilda’s in the making!

Ex BPS Student Lachlan King at Junior Wimbledon

Congratulations to rising star and BPS old boy Lachlan King who has just competed in the Wimbledon U14 junior competition.

Lachlan was lucky enough to gain entry and an all expenses paid trip for him and his coach since he was the highest ranking U13 boy in Australia for 2022.

Lachie had to play an age group up at Wimbledon and tested himself against the world’s best young talent. He thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, playing in front of crowds and getting a measure of how far he must go to achieve his ambition of playing at a professional level.

He then flew to Austria and Germany where he is competing with the Australian Team.

Well done Lachlan, we will follow your progress with great interest over the next few years!
