CASE programs

MGSC has a strong and ongoing relationship with CASE and their STEAM-themed holiday programs known as Space School and Ocean School.

Ocean School

During the school holidays, three MGSC students had the amazing opportunity to attend CASE Junior Ocean School for 2023. Some of the highlights of our trip included kayaking, visiting museums, learning to surf, beach games, coastline studies, visits to Queensland University, Cairns night markets, exploring the Daintree and learning about Indigenous cultures. Throughout the experience we also got the opportunity to meet some guest speakers such as Brett M Lewis, Dr Teresa Carratte and Azri Sapwarn. We got to visit North Stradbroke Island and Fitzroy Island and find out about their uniqueness to the environment. To top it all off we got to go snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef!

From Melbourne to Brisbane to Cairns we got to make fun memories, learn about things we couldn’t have known before and make new friends. I learnt so much about many things, from conservation efforts to how much I love churros.
