Year 9 Science

The Year 9 cohort has begun the electricity unit. We have conducted many practical experiments, such as the friction prac, where we used glass rods and fabric to bend water. Another task we completed was experimenting with circuits, which entailed us to try different methods of conducting electricity, using supplies such as light bulbs, wires and a power source. We had a lot of fun with this unit in Headstart and are looking forward to continuing it next semester.

Year 10 Work Experience

From Tuesday 13 June to Friday 16 June, the Year 10 cohort experienced Work Experience, an off-site event that consists of students going into the workplace and experiencing what it's like to work. Year 10s chose from a variety of workplaces, some examples being primary schools, laboratories, medical facilities, dance studios and many more.  A huge thank you to the Year 10 staff involved in making Work Experience possible and who supported the students in their journey. Also, a huge thank you to Ms Bouchier, who consistently ran, supported and helped in a multitude of ways to make Work Experience possible.

Career Expo

Both Year 9 and Year 10 were both offered to experience and take part in the Career Expo, an informative experience that sheds light on future careers and options regarding VCE and tertiary education. On behalf of the Middle School students, a huge thank you to all universities and companies who come to Mentone Girls’ Secondary College to inform and help students navigate what they want to do in the future. Also, a huge thank you to the staff who were involved in helping students understand what specific subjects offer and what they can lead to and to the staff who helped organise this experience for us, we truly appreciate your support!
