Book Week

Book Week

Book Week: Keep reading; keep growing; keep being inspired.

Book Week is a celebration of literature, imagination, and the power of words to transform lives. This year’s theme "Read, Grow, Inspire," provided ample opportunities for our students to share their favourite reads with friends and engage in a range of literature-based activities in the library.

Read: Unleashing the Magic of Books

The act of reading itself is an essential skill, laying the foundation for lifelong learning. It enhances vocabulary, comprehension, critical thinking, and empathy. Book Week provides the perfect avenue to promote a range of book genres and celebrate our top 20 readers with a Pizza Party.  This year the top of the tops was Archie Engstrom who read 256 books so far this year.

Grow: Nourish the Mind and Soul

There is conclusive evidence that reading fosters personal growth by encouraging self-reflection and self-awareness. The characters we encounter in books often mirror aspects of our own lives, inspiring us to overcome challenges, embrace our uniqueness, and pursue our dreams. The library has hosted a range of reading-related activities to engage our students, including Escape Room Challenges and a Kahoot. At Marist, we promote the power of reading to nurture our minds and souls, continuously striving to become better versions of ourselves.

Inspire: Planting Seeds of Creativity and Change

The influence of a good book can extend far beyond the reader's mind. Stories have the power to inspire action and ignite positive change in the world. Book Week shines the light on a range of genres and serves as a catalyst for inspiration. The Marist staff also embrace Book Week, sharing morning tea in the library and a chance to chat about their favourite books.

This year, the Book Week displays and activities have fully embraced the "Read, Grow, Inspire" theme. This week, the library staff have witnessed both staff and students immerse themselves in the pages of captivating books being inspired to create a brighter future for themselves and others.

Happy Book Week!
