CASPer Test for Teaching Courses

Year 12 students are aware that one of Education course prerequisites is to sit the CASPer Test and they need to complete this test to be eligible for Round 1 offers.  Dates for this year are August 24th, September 16th, October 16th, November 13th and December 8th.

Kwong Lee Dow (KLD) Young Scholars Program

This University of Melbourne program is an academic enrichment program designed to support high achieving students currently in Year 10. Students must demonstrate evidence of leadership potential, active citizenship and community involvement in their application.  

 

Benefits of being a KLD Young Scholar include access to University resources and participation in an exciting program of events and activities, as well as benefits for any student who studies at The University of Melbourne. This program has been successfully running for a number of years and previous recipients have found this to be an extremely worthwhile experience.  Brochures and application details are available from the Pathways Office or their website https://study.unimelb.edu.au/connect-with-us/programs-for-high-achievers/kwong-lee-dow-young-scholars-program

10B Work Experience

It is great to see that almost all 10B students have finalised their work experience placements with a variety of different industries to help gain a better understanding of possible future careers.  Any student who does not have their placement arranged by the end of next week for whatever reason, will be required to attend school and be placed with another Year 10 core group for the week.

 

 Work Experience at Zoos Victoria

An exciting opportunity is available for Year 10, Year 11 or Year 12 students to do a work experience placement at one of Victoria’s four zoos; Healesville Sanctuary, Kyabram Fauna Park, Melbourne Zoo or Werribee Open Range Zoo. 

 

This work experience program has been designed inspire the next generation of youth to work with wildlife.  Students finish the week with a deeper appreciation of wildlife, the environment we share with them, and how each role within the organisation works towards conservation.

There are a range of tasks possible during this program including some physical tasks which require initial observation and assessment to ensure students are able to participate in a way which will maintain workplace safety for all student

 

Only applications from St Mary MacKillop College will be accepted so interested students need to see Brenda for more information.  Applications close Monday, September 11th.
