VET HOSPITALITY

MS MANDY MCCALLUM - VET HOSPITALITY TEACHER

The past two weeks have been very busy for our VET Hospitality students, last Friday the 2nd Year students catered for a Diocese Principal’s breakfast in The Orchard. The students were up bright and early to prepare and serve the breakfast which consisted of fresh fruit then eggs, bacon and avocado on sour dough with a coffee from the coffee machine.

This Monday two of our students, Shakira Siggins and Francesco Tuntar competed in the Murray River Culinary Challege against Kerang Technical High School. Our students performed very well and were outright winners on the day, they now go on to competed against several other schools along the Murray River in the grand final. This will take place on 11th September in Shepparton. Shakira and Francesco will spend the next few weeks practicing the new menu in preparation for the event.

While all this has been happening the Hospitality students have also been preparing food for the school production this week. They will be providing tea for the cast on Thursday evening and then supper during the intervals of the three shows.

The VET Hospitality students are amazing, they are always willing to put their hand up to help when they can and have also learnt a lot of new skills along the way.
