Welcome back to Term 3. We have many exciting events planned for this term. Students will engage in excursions, incursions, National PJ Day, Book Week, Footy Day, Sports Carnival, Grade 6 Camp to The Island, the Secondary 7/8 Concord School Musical (Spectacular), the Year 11 Presentation Ball and the State Schools Spectacular at John Cain Arena. We can’t wait!
Acting Principals
This term, Jason will be the Acting Executive Principal at Parkville College. Parkville College is a specialist Victorian Government School that provides education to students who are, or have been, detained in custody, a secure care setting, or transitioning from these settings. In Jason’s absence, Flora and I are excited to have the opportunity to lead our wonderful school from the Principal’s Office! I will be the Acting Principal for weeks
1-5 and Flora Nixon (Assistant Principal - Teaching and Learning) will be the Acting Principal for weeks 6-10. In the Principal team, we are supported by Kath Moore (Watsonia Campus Principal) and Karlie Gooding (Acting Assistant Principal), who remain in their current roles.
School Building Works
The school building works have had impressive developments over the holidays. Our newest building is taking shape, with the first-floor slab being laid in coming weeks. The walls that are being constructed offsite, will then be lifted into place. Last week, I enjoyed a tour of the site to see the progress of this massive project. We look forward to the project finishing for the start of the 2024 school year.
School Sports Victoria State Cross Country Success
Shout out to Jordan R (Year 11 student) who became a Victorian State Champion last week after taking out first place in the School Sports Victoria State Cross Country U17-20 Multiclass 3.1km. The field of 15 competitors were led by Jordan and second place, Jaiden, from Heatherwood.
The two were neck and neck for most of the race, continually swapping the lead until the last 200m when Jordan pulled away to finish in 13 min 03! Jordan was cheered on by his teammates and coaches from the Diamond Valley Athletics Club who were also there.
He is now preparing for his step up into the National Championships in Canberra.
