Foundation Students

Celebrating our fabulous Foundies!

Literacy:

Foundation students are loving our new Little Learners Love Literacy Program! We have been doing paired reading, this is where students read their home reader to one another and help each other if needed. Students have also been writing wonderful sentences, we have been focusing on having a noun and a verb in our writing, making sure we use capital letters, finger spaces, full stops and that our sentence makes sense! The pictures below are Lachlan and Lucy during our paired reading session and Martin and Leon’s wonderful sentence writing!

Maths:

Last week Foundation students celebrated 100 days of school! We did lots of things to do with the number 100! This week we started learning about subtraction! Students have loved singing along to songs that involve subtraction such as 5 speckled frogs, 10 in the bed etc. Students have practised writing their subtraction sums on our ‘how many boards’. Have a look at Izzy and Ashton’s great work below.

Respectful Relationships:

During our well-being session this week, we read the story ‘Rose meets Mr Wintergarden’. This is a story about being helpful to those around us, after reading the story we spoke about how Rose helped Mr Wintergarden and how we can be good helpers too. We then completed an activity in our Resilience Project book where students wrote how they could be helpful and how it feels to get help and to help someone else. Take a look at Charlie and Hina’s great work about being good helpers.
