First of all, I am very grateful for all the help from the school community. Thank you to all the wonderful parents and children for coming to our Working Bee and helping make our Japanese room beautiful. Also, thank you for helping plant our new Kanzan (Japanese flowering cherry). The children are very excited – one of the students had earlier wished for some cherry trees for our school for Star Festival, so was delighted when their wish came true!

Years 1 to 4 have been learning some Kanji characters as they learn about different topics. Kanji is one of the three scripts in Japanese and was imported to Japan from China in the 5th century. Each character has its own meaning. We discussed how we can remember them by seeing, writing and creating a story for each character. The students’ imagination and creativity always delights and surprises me - keep up your great work Monty students!
