CBCA Book Week 2023 - Read, Grow, Inspire

Book and English Week is being celebrated this week from the 21st - 25th August and we are celebrating with lots of fun activities including an author talk by Martin Chatterton for our Junior School students. Find out more about Martin here. All of the books in the Older Readers shortlist for the Book of the Year award are available to borrow from the library. World Cup Fever

Celebrate women in sport! The library has a great range of books on women in sport including ‘The Matilda Effect’ by Fiona Crawford & Sam Kerr’s latest, ‘My journey to the World Cup’.

Glen Eira Council - My Brother Jack Awards

The Awards recognise the outstanding literary achievements of people who live, work or study in Glen Eira. Prizes are awarded for short stories and poetry in the categories of Primary; Junior Secondary; Senior Secondary; and Open. More information can be found here. The My Brother Jack Awards are a celebration of local writing talent and the stories that shape our community. We would love to see as many entries as possible from GEC students. There are some fantastic prizes to be won! Students can talk to their English teacher or library staff if they’d like to know more.

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge

The Challenge closes on September 8th. Students need to log their books to complete the Challenge. All students who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers and go into a draw to win prizes. Students can contact library staff if they have any questions or issues.

Tuesday & Wednesdays after school in the library (3.30pm - 4.30pm).

Volunteer tutors available for assistance with most subject areas.

The library is open everyday after school for students to study except when staff meetings are scheduled.
