Year 3s at Hans Heyson Studio

After studying the incredible South Australian artist, Sir Hans Heysen, the Year 3s visited his house and studio in Hahndorf. We met the Year 3 class from Murray Bridge (as the MB Year 3 teacher is also a Hans Heysen tour guide).

We saw many original paintings, some we even knew the names of and year they were painted. Two paintings, in particular, caught our attention; ‘Spring Flowers’ and ‘Droving into the Light’.  We had re-created these paintings during an Art lesson and were very familiar with the details.

The tour took us through his old, well lit studio and even his home, which is decorated the same as it was when he lived there. There was much to look at and learn. After lunch, we walked down to the Shady Pool. This was a favourite spot on his property for Hans to sit and sketch the landscape. We did the same – got out our paper and pencil and sketched the lovely surroundings.

What a great day! Thank you to Mrs Mikhail, Mrs Leslie, Mrs Mosbey and Mrs Reiffel for coming along.

Year 1/Year 2 Late Night Fun

Last Friday night the Year 1 and 2 students were part of a late night/sleepover.

Students had fun sharing afternoon tea together and then spent some time competing in musical statues and some outdoor games. We then enjoyed a pizza dinner with delicious cupcakes provided by the very talented Tammy Maywald for dessert.

We said goodbye to the Year 1's and the Year 2 students then hopped into their pajamas to enjoy a movie and popcorn. After a bedtime story it was lights out. Breakfast in the morning and then time to head home.

Many thanks to Luke Evans for sticking it out with us! The students had a wonderful time.
