The Flooring Alliance
A new Government initiative call The Flooring Alliance is funding Taster Programs at Holmesglen Institute of TAFE to introduce students to the flooring industry. An industry that is in demand for apprentices in many facets of flooring including wood, carpet, vinyl and resin. A number of interested students attended the day and will now progress onto some work experience to test the waters before applying for apprenticeship opportunities.

VTAC and Post Secondary Support for Year 12 students
The Careers staff have been busy meeting individually with our Year 12 students to assist with submitting VTAC applications and confirming plans for 2020. As the term draws to a close this is a reminder for students who are yet to see the Careers staff to make an appointment ASAP. Families are also welcome to attend these appointment with their child. Appointments can be made directly with the Campus Careers Coordinator.
Microsoft Traineeship Program
Interested in a career in IT? Applications are currently open for Microsoft’s 2020 Traineeship Program.
This exciting opportunity combines on-the-job training with external learning at TAFE, all while being paid. You will also earn a Certificate IV in Information Technology.
If you want to work in IT or with computers, this is a great opportunity to get some hands-on experience with one of the world’s largest technology companies.
Positions are currently available in Adelaide and Melbourne.

Jetstar Cadet Pilot Program
Applications are now open for Jetstar’s Cadet Pilot Program.
The Jetstar Cadet Pilot Program is an outstanding opportunity designed to equip successful graduates with the skills, qualifications and experience required for a future career as an airline pilot.
You will be provided with the best training, aircraft, and facilities available in Australia. Jetstar’s approved Flight Training Organisations (FTO’s) have been assessed to ensure that they meet specific training requirements and stringent safety standards. Supporting the training organisations is Swinburne University in Melbourne, offering a unique University experience.
Jetstar have introduced, in conjunction with their University partner, a number of measures including FEE-HELP, to ensure that the Jetstar Cadet Pilot Program is one of the most cost effective ways to complete your flight training.
