RUOK?
What an amazing week, there is no slowing down even as the end of term quickly approaches. This week we asked the critical question RUOK, not just once but all week. Every morning Learning Advisors guided students through informative dialogue on how to pay attention to one another to ensure that we can recognise when our friends or family may not be feeling their best. Asking the critical question R U OK has become symbolic of a caring community. All week the focus was on taking time to check in and see that our friends and colleagues were ok. Meditation, Yoga, a surprise rocket launch and great music in the Piazza provided a great atmosphere.
What a great way to start your day. Every student on Thursday morning was greeted by a special message on their lockers. A simple RU OK.
The highlight was of course the colour run held on Thursday lead by the SRC which was once again a magical and spectacular celebration of the friendship, love and care that we have for one another. The run was extra fun as the VCAL team had prepared a wonderful obstacle course for the runners to navigate amidst the spray of colours.
House Captains 2020
Student Leadership again took centre stage as the nominatees for House Captains 2020 presented their speeches before their peers. Electronic voting was again a feature of this process as will be the interviews for each candidate next week. Results will be revealed in the House Assemblies next week.
Augustine House Lip Sync Battle – Grand Final
The first ever Lip Sync Battle was held over two weeks, with the Grand Final held on Tuesday 11th September. The talent was epic as was the crowd and of course the talented and professional judging panel. The Grand Final Battle was between Augustine, Glowrey and Marian. A tremendous amount of work, thought and planning was generated by Augustine House to host our first ever Lip Sync Battle at the Clyde North Campus. The Piazza came alive to song, dance and some very amusing costumes. This will now become an annual event hosted by Augustine. Special thanks to Mr Wallwork, Mr Pulley, and all the judges. If you missed this event, check out our facebook page.
After the tremendous success of this event, I am extremely confident that next year will be bigger, better, brighter and even more entertaining. Each House has hosted many events through out the year all earning valuable points towards the Rosemary Graham Shield and I would like to take this opportunity to again thank all the House Leaders and the House Captains and all students for a great competition this year. The first week of Term 4 will see the announcement of the overall winning House for 2019. This week I present you with the second last look at the ladder, the final events and points will be added over the last weeks of this term. So stay tuned.
A special reminder of why the Rosemary Graham Shield: Our Shield at Clyde North is named in honour of Sr Rosemary Graham rsm a member of the Mercy Order of Nuns who was the foundation Principal of St Agatha’s Primary School in Cranbourne. We continue to celebrate in honour of her great work and legacy.
Assisi UNO Competition
Another wonderful House competition which is now firmly entrenched as a firm favourite among all students. It could be the game or perhaps the wonderful trophy as presented by the lead UNO Champion and mentor, Mr Tom Myers.
And here is the latest update on the Rosemary Graham Shield
The final results will be revealed early Term 4 once the final events, including the last few House events, plus the environment competition being held in the last two weeks of Term 3. There is plenty of opportunity for a change in the ranking. The way to ensure your house wins points is through participation. Have you signed up for Chess?
A FLASH Dance MOB comes to Clyde North Campus – It appeared as though Mr Rijs had found himself alone in the Piazza when suddenly music started and feet started to tap and before we knew it, the dancing began. Mr Rijs (MacKillop House Leader) was quickly joined by his House Captains, then more students, then more House Leaders and Captains. Before we knew it year 12 students, the SRC and the House Captains had taken over the Piazza. A flash mob, and a celebration of pure joy at the sillyness of having fun by randomly dancing. It is so much easier to BE OK when your silly dancing. J Thanks Mr Rijs, SRC, House Leaders, House Captains and year 12 students for their planning of this fun event. And thank you to all of the other dancers who joined the fun of silly dance.
