Pizza Design Challenge - Year 8 Food Technology

This semester Year 8 students undertook a Design Challenge for their assessment task in Food Studies. They were given a Design Brief that required them to create a new and innovative pizza to attract customers back to a struggling Pizza Chain. Having brainstormed possible ingredients, and developed at least four possible design ideas, students selected their best solution to produce and evaluate.

The result was a wide range of delicious pizza options ranging from savoury Italian rolls to a super meat lovers and a sweet pizza full of strawberries and Nutella. Students developed their literacy skills through a detailed evaluation of the positive and negative aspects of their selected pizza. Student responses indicate a depth of understanding of the criteria for success and development of a wide range of vocabulary centred on the description of their pizza. From all accounts, the tested products were a great success!
