Year 7 Maths Association of Victoria Games Day

On Monday, 2 September 2019 St. Peter's College entered two teams in the Maths Association of Victoria Games Day at the Waverley Christian School Narre Warren South. We fielded two teams, consisting of 4 Year 7 students each team, one from Cranbourne and one from Clyde North.

Cranbourne’s Team:   Mukesh Kanniyappan, Alvin Kan, Thiviru Dela and Ravneet Kaur

Clyde North’s Team:   Agnes Duiker, Harjas Singh, Yahvi Bhavsar and Medwin Johnson

The purpose of the competition was to provide a supportive environment in which our Maths Superstars could challenge their problem solving skills. There were approximately 25 Independent and Government schools entered in the competition. There were 57 teams entered. The winning team was Korowa Anglican Girls School, 2nd Camberwell Grammar School and 3rd Mount Scopus Memorial College. Our teams performed admirably, Clyde North 32nd and Cranbourne West 9th place. It was an excellent chance for students to make new friends and enjoy thought provoking activities. Perhaps the quote of the day came from one of our Clyde North team members when asked “How are you enjoying the day? They replied “My brain hurts” Mine would also if I had been solving tricky problems for 3 hours!
