Sport and P.E.

In the Classroom

With some major sporting events approaching on our school calendar, our students have been hard at work honing their skills for the upcoming cross-country event and Senior School Athletics Carnival. Across all year levels we have been discussing the importance of pacing ourselves during long-distance running and learning about the strategies we can use to succeed in running at these events. This week, our 3-6 students have also learned about high jump technique - including choosing our jumping foot, building momentum on our run-in and safely executing different jumping and landing styles.

Sports Events

On Thursday 2nd March, Boroondara Park Primary School had 29 students attend and compete at the District Swimming Carnival. The day was a great success, with all swimmers representing themselves and our school with effort, enthusiasm, positivity and fantastic sportsmanship. I could not have been more impressed with the attitude and efforts of our swimming team and all students that attended on the day should be incredibly proud of themselves.

A special mention to Vivian L from 34B, who came 1st in the butterfly and 2nd in the breaststroke at the District Carnival - great results against strong competition. Vivian wasn't done there yet though, going on to place 2nd in the butterfly and 4th in the breaststroke at this week's Division Swimming Carnival! As a result, Vivian has been invited to attend the Eastern Metropolitan Region Swimming Carnival later this month.

Well done to all of our swimmers and good luck to Vivian at regionals!

Interschool Sport

Our 5/6 Interschool Sport Program is well and truly up and running! In our first match-up, we visited St. Clements of Rome, before hosting Greythorn Primary School last week. We have a bye this week, with our next match-up taking place on Friday 17th March, at home, against St. Bedes Primary School.

Have a great week!
