From the 1/2 Classrooms

Our Healthy Food Day

This term the Integrated Studies topic is Identity – Growing Older and Wiser.

The rationale behind this unit is for the students to understand how they grow and change and as they do, how they can help themselves to be the best they can be. A focus on the unit is Healthy Food. Students considered the following questions:

·         Why is it so important to eat fruit and vegetables?

·         How could I help everyone in my family to eat healthy food?

·         What might happen if I ate too much junk food?

Last Friday, all the students in Year 1 and 2 participated in four activities to enjoy a Healthy Day at school. The students were encouraged to recognize situations and be given opportunities to promote their own health, safety and wellbeing.

The four activities were:

Healthy Foods

Students were encouraged to consider how they can make healthy food choices at school and at home. Students looked at a variety of food groups to discuss and sort.
