Kitchen and Garden & Sustainability News
This fortnight our clever students cooked recipes from all corners of the globe to recognize cultural diversity and its importance in giving great depth and brightness to our world. Our collection of recipes aligns with Harmony week coming up on the 20 - 26th March, its theme being 'Everyone belongs' We cooked and shared shakshouka, croquettes, asian coleslaw, tiganites (a greek pancake), mango lassi and focaccia, and it was delicious. Lots of different tastes at our Shared Table this week! The recipes are below if you would like to try them at home.
At our Shared Table we brainstormed lots of different ethnic recipes that the students could cook at home and we would love to hear back about some dishes that you have cooked together as a family.
Our grade 4's have been learning to propagate and they have been enjoying growing plants from other plants, we can't wait to see these grow and start building our collection of plants to sell at the fresh food fair.
We have been lucky enough to get a new garden sink and potting station for our students to use during their sessions. It is going to be so helpful washing potatoes, carrots, hands and so much more. There is heaps of storage too! Thanks so much to James and Ocean Grove Mens Shed for making this amazing new creation.

Volunteers
Volunteers are what helps our program be so successful. Having a couple of extra sets of hands helps the sessions run more efficiently, and your positive encouragement is vital to the growth of the students.
Please come along to any of our classes below, we are happy for you to just show up. To volunteer we ask that complete a very brief induction with the office and that you have a Working With Children Check https://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/individuals/applicants/how-to-apply-1
If you have any other spare time, even just 30mins, please contact Clancey or Fleur to find out how to get involved. Any help is much welcomed.
