2024 Sibling Enrolments

It has been great to see our Prep students start full time and we are already planning our 2024 Prep enrolment tours and information sessions. Our enrolments for 2024 open on day 1 of term 2. If you have a younger child that is ready for school in 2024 we would appreciate you letting us know  so we can ensure a place for you in 2024.  Please refer to the new Prep enrolment timeline and guidelines below and this information will be in our newsletters throughout term 2:

The new timeline will apply for children starting Foundation (Prep) in 2024. All government primary schools will follow the new timeline in 2023 to support Foundation (Prep) enrolments for the 2024 school year.

You can find information and resources about the new timeline, including factsheets, at: Enrolling in Foundation (Prep). You can also download the ‘Foundation (Prep) Enrolment Information Pack for Parents/Carers for the 2024 school year’ from the Starting School webpage (available from 24 April 2023).

You will be able to apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) 2024 at Surfside Primary School from 24 April 2023.

What you need to do:

  1. Contact the school on 5256 1411, pop into the office or book a school tour when tours are available in term 2.
  2. Download the Foundation (Prep) enrolment information pack from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) (available from 24 April 2023)
  3. Submit an enrolment application for Foundation (Prep) by Friday 28 July 2023
  4. You will be notified of the outcome of your application by Friday 11 August 2023. If you receive an offer of placement, you should contact our school to accept the offer by Friday 25 August 2023
  5. Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2023
  6. Your child will start Foundation (Prep) from Tuesday 30 January 2024.

Enrolment applications submitted after 28 July 2023 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.

Naplan Testing Period - Years 3 & 5

A big thank you to our year 3 & 5 students and staff who have been working hard this week undertaking Naplan testing in the areas of writing, reading, conventions of language and numeracy. Most of these tests have been online and a big thank you to Mr Chapman and Emily (our IT guru) who have ensured that everything has been able to run smoothly. Naplan is a snapshot in time and allows us a school to gather some important data on student growth in these areas. We are very rich in student data across all year levels all of the time that helps us to track students point of need teaching and growth in specific areas. This is coupled with a focus on daily review of the learning essentials within these areas. A big reminder to our students, staff and families that Naplan is not a definition of you but a snapshot in time. Keep working towards being 'The Best Version of You' .

Sporting Update - Lightning Prem & Division Swimming Championships

We recently had a number of our students participate in the Summer Lightning Premiership at Shell Rd Sporting Complex and the Division Swimming Championships at Kardinia Pool. It was great to see a range of student ability out testing themselves against a number of different schools. A big thank you to Mr Baker, teaching staff and our parent and carer supporters. It has been great to see our students really showcase our school values of Respect, Honesty, Teamwork and Achievement during these events. All the best to Sofia U who will represent Surfside at the District Championships.
