AMEB Success

Amongst many students undertaking AMEB Music exams, congratulations is extended to Owen H (Y8) who had an excellent result in his most recent AMEB 8th Grade Violin examination. Owen attained an A+ performing some very challenging repertoire, and he received consistently positive feedback from the examiner. Despite only being only in Year 8, Owen is a valued member of Senior Symphony Orchestra, Senior Strings, the upcoming European Music Tour, and he was also in the Pit Orchestra for last year’s musical Matilda!. Well done Owen; we all look forward to watching and hearing more of your playing as you progress through the school.

Debating: Years 9 to 12

Congratulations to our Year 9 to 12 debaters on an outstanding start to the DAV Schools Competition. This year a total of 90 students across 15 teams are representing Huntingtower in the Debaters Association of Victoria’s main interschool competition. The event is open to students in Years 9 to 12, and the first round took place on Thursday 2 March.

It was a challenging first round, with students only having a week to prepare on some tricky topics, including whether Australia should be providing military assistance to other countries, impose a maximum wage, abolish compulsory voting, or compel school students to participate in co-curricular activities.

Well done to all our teams on an outstanding start to the year. Huntingtower teams had clear sweeps of the A Grade (Year 12), B Grade (Year 11) and C Grade (Year 10) divisions, with all of our team winning their debates.

Congratulations as well go out to those students who were named as ‘best speaker’ in their debates by their adjudicator:

  • Pranav C (Year 12)
  • Rishika D (Year 12)
  • Josiane M (Year 11)
  • Nathan S (Year 11)
  • Keira L (Year 10)
  • Harshita K (Year 10)
  • Alan L (Year 10)
  • Vid K (Year 10)
  • Asmi U (Year 9)

Congratulations on an outstanding start to the debating season, and we wish out teams the best of luck as they prepare for their upcoming round of debates next week.
