Autumn Concert - Thursday 30 March

Next Thursday our students will be staging the annual Autumn Concert to celebrate some of the outstanding music-making that happens at Mount Carmel College.

The concert will extend from 7.00pm - 8.30pm in the Cahill Centre (College Hall) and will feature our Years 9/10 Elective Music Students, Instrumental Music Students, Middle Years Voices, Senior Singers, College Orchestra and the MCC Ceilidh Band. There may also be a return performance by the MCC Staff Choir - MC Chorale, and some Alumni of the College as well. It promises to be a great night of entertainment, showcasing some very talented young musicians.

All performers need to ensure that they are well presented in full summer uniform, and that they arrive no later than 6.45pm to prepare for their performance.

Whether your daughter is performing or not, you are invited to come along to support the students and enjoy this evening of music.

Car parking is limited at the College and therefore we encourage you to park at Wrest Point or in the surrounding streets.

Ruby Stokes-Little

Year 7 student Ruby Stokes-Little is the recipient of the Arts Scholarship at Mount Carmel for 2023.

Ruby chose Mount Carmel due to it’s smaller size and because, when taking a tour of the College, walking into the Art and Music rooms made her really happy. She is especially enthusiastic about Visual Art, saying that creating art ‘takes her away to a different place during stressful times’. Ruby creates original art on cassette tapes, as well as working with LED lights to create images. She was inspired by her grandfather, who sketched a lot.

Ruby was the recipient of the Young Archies Award in Grade 3 when at Bellerive Primary School and has felt a natural affinity for drawing since a young age. She also dances with ‘The Dance School’ and she particularly enjoys ballet, lyrical, jazz and song & dance. Ruby has also played the clarinet for 2 years and is really looking forward to getting involved in school Drama productions as well.

We’re excited to see Ruby’s artistic endeavours develop over the next four years, as we are for all of our students here at Mount Carmel College.
