Year 11 – RYDA

Last week our Year 11 students and wellbeing staff had the pleasure of attending the Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA) workshop.

The RYDA workshop is a collaborative effort between Rotary clubs, local Police, and corporate sponsors. It is a non-profit initiative that aims to reduce the number of road accidents involving young drivers. According to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, young drivers aged between 17 and 25 are over-represented in road fatalities and serious injuries.

RYDA covers a wide range of topics related to road safety, including the importance of seatbelts, the dangers of speeding, the impact of drugs and alcohol on driving ability, and the consequences of distracted driving. The workshop uses a combination of interactive presentations, group discussions, and practical exercises to engage students and promote active learning.

After a 2-year hiatus, it was wonderful to have the opportunity for our students to engage with community volunteers and gain invaluable skills and knowledge on how to stay safe on the roads.

Wellbeing Day

Recently the Senior School enjoyed Wellbeing Day, a full day devoted to exploring and developing skills in responsible decision-making, study-skills, positive peer relationships, cyber security, self-awareness, self-management, and conflict resolution.

It was a huge day of workshops that saw all year groups fully engaged in a broad range of practical activities and discussions. I take this opportunity to acknowledge our students for their outstanding conduct and participation, and our wonderful staff who supported groups and ran workshops.
