From the Desk of the Assistant Principal

Robert Lewkowicz

Welcome back to the 2023 school year - it has been a good start to the year and students have settled into college routine well.

During the first week Year 11 and 12 students were involved in Orientation Program. These sessions focussed on goal setting, study and revision approaches as well as their learning environment at home.

At Swinburne Senior Secondary College, we have high expectations in the areas of student engagement, attendance, and their learning.

Parent / Student / Teacher conferences will be held online on Wednesday 15 and 22 March.

When your child is away from school or a class, parents or guardians should log onto the Compass Portal and enter a parent approved absence at the beginning of the day or before the class begins.  If your child is marked absent for that class a SMS message will be sent to you during the day if they miss a class. Students will be expected to redeem absences and the work they have missed.

I would like to encourage all parents to login to the Compass Portal weekly, so they can be up to date with their child’s attendance and any other new events which are happening at the college.  It will be a busy 2nd term, we have several events coming up at Swinburne Senior Secondary College. The college play starting on the 24 May, Midyear practice exams for all the Englishes on the 7 June at 10am. The next interim reporting cycle will be published on March 6. Any queries about progress reports to be directed to your child’s mentor teacher.

Next Term begins on Monday 24 April.
