VCE Making and Exhibiting Excursion

On February 7, students from the VCE Making and Exhibiting program visited the La Trobe Arts Institute and Bendigo Art Gallery to broaden their understanding of inspiration and curatorial practices. The day started with a lecture at the La Trobe Arts Institute by former students and a curator from the Bendigo Art Gallery, with a focus on the "The Sitter: Portraits across the Collection" exhibit.

The students had the opportunity to explore the exhibit, making connections to inspiration and exhibition design. They also gained valuable insights into the artists' use of materials and techniques.

The Bendigo Art Gallery Collection's "The Sitter" exhibition showcases the evolution of portraiture as an art genre, featuring paintings, photography, and sculpture by contemporary and historical artists, as well as a unique collection of 18th and 19th century miniature portrait paintings. The exhibition is housed in the grand Drury Court building and provides an immersive experience for visitors. Thanks to all those who attended and represented the College so well!
