Principal's Report

As we embark on Lent, it is a time for us to reflect on a range of areas in our lives. It is an opportunity to think of others and to do for others. Caritas reminds us of the importance of actively supporting other people, some who may be struggling financially, struggling with health or struggling day by day.  We want our students, and all in our community to thrive, but at times we need to help provide the conditions and environment for that to take place. I encourage everyone within our St Jospeh's College community to think of others and to focus on acting justly throughout this Lenten period.

We are proud of our students and staff, we are well known in the wider community and we are easily identified by our uniform. Our uniform has not changed, nor have our rules around wearing it, but encouraging students to wear it and wear it well, has been a focal point this year. I ask for family support with this, particularly around the wearing of hats outside. We are a SunSmart school and we live in a country where skin cancer is a serious risk and illness, so it makes complete sense that we help provide a layer of protection for our students.

I look forward to meeting many of our families next week at our Learning Mentor evenings. This is an opportunity to meet and connect with your child’s LM; the staff member who sees them and supports them every day.

It is great to see our Year 7 students settling in to secondary school life and our Year 12s getting into the groove of regular study. I would also like to congratulate all our students for their participation in our recent swimming carnivals. It was wonderful to witness students participating with a healthy balance of competition, fun and house spirit.

God Bless.
