Tree Planting

Late last year Altona College was lucky enough to plant over 180 trees on the school grounds as part of the Commonwealth Government’s Planting Trees for the Queens Jubilee program.

The College would like to recognize that maintaining these trees is a huge responsibility, and one that cannot be achieved without the support of our dedicated volunteers. We would like to acknowledge two members of our parent community, Fiona and Kari who worked tirelessly to ensure that these trees remain healthy and well-nourished. Both parents have selflessly given up their time to water the 180 trees that were planted as part of the Queen's Jubilee. Despite the heat, humidity and a busy schedule, they made it a priority to take care of the trees.

We hope that Fiona and Kari’s efforts will serve as inspiration to others in our community and encourage more people to volunteer their time to support our school's initiatives. It is through the collective efforts of our community that we can make a real difference and create a better future for our children.

Once again, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Fiona and Kari for their unwavering support and dedication to our school.

Mr. GW Peter Mac Fundraiser

Just a quick reach out to drum up support for my fundraising efforts for Peter Mac – Ride to fight cancer.

Most of you would know that I was diagnosed with Stage IV Renal Cell Carcinoma in August 2020.

For those who don’t really know much about it, here is a brief rundown.

I was given a 13% chance of surviving 5 years. I had a 2.5kg tumour removed and no approved treatments available to me. I was lucky to be put on a phase 1 immunotherapy trial for 2 years at Peter Mac. Fast forward to today and I am cancer-free. I now feel that it is time for me to give back to Peter Mac for all the amazing people and things they do there.

So I am going to ride over 200km during a 10 day period at the end of March to raise money. So if you have some spare cash, please visit my fundraising page  https://r2fc.me/n-grace-wenzel and donate. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

I have so far raised $425, I would love to push past $1,000.

Thank-you for your time,

Mr. Grace-Wenzel
