Welcome to the Middle Community!

To promote social growth in the Middle Community, we are teaching students how to show leadership, solve problems and take responsibility. This is taught each week through our SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) unit. We have taken a particular focus on problem solving and have introduced students to the 3 Problem Solving Steps.

We have enjoyed seeing students build their resilience in this area as they solve problems in and out of the classroom. Students have been able to stop small issues from escalating into big ones, and therefore, strengthening friendships throughout our Middle community.

One thing you will see on a regular basis in our Middle Community, is student collaboration! In addition to the academic benefits, large and small group activities, Floor friends and partner tasks can give students an opportunity to develop social skills such as teamwork, goal-setting and responsibility.

KIDS VOICE

Flashback to Kinder Buddies!

Our Middle Community were busy last term spreading the value of 'BE JOY'

at Kirrip Kinder.

We know that learning to interact with peers of all ages is a very important social skill. Through our buddy program, we have seen significant social growth in our students.  They learnt how to communicate with, respect, play and support their buddies through art, reading, games and more.
