Be JOY
At Wollert Primary we aim to provide a positive, happy, and fun learning environment for all of our students. We aim to build the connection between our brain function, but also with our heart through the emotion of joy. We aim for the feeling of Joy to be felt in every day at our school. Be Joy is our ‘wrap around value’ which is supported by our values of Be Brilliant, Be Curious, and Be Kind.
Joy achievement is celebrated and acknowledged across the school when we:
We love when we see our students showing Joy, whether it’s in an a-ha moment of learning or the smile on their faces. A positive, happy, loving, fun, and optimistic attitude creates the best environment for our student's growth mindsets to flourish. At Wollert Primary School, we support each other to express and spread JOY by embracing laughter, humour, wonder, play, silliness, light-heartedness, and fun.
School Wide Positive Behaviour Framework (SWPBS) Working Party
Our SWPBS Journey continues with a working party that has been established to lead our SWPBS implementation. SWPBS is not a program, but rather a framework that brings together school communities to develop positive, safe, supportive learning cultures. It created contextulised systems that improve social, emotional, behavioural, and academic outcomes for children and young people.
Our working party is made up of staff from across the school, including leadership and educational support. This group will oversee the implementation of an action plan focused on ‘Universal Prevention of Undesired Behaviours’. They are currently in the process of undertaking training days to deepen their level of knowledge, understanding, and implementation.
Last Friday, we had the NEMA (North East Melbourne Area) SWPBS Coach Daniel Ioannides visit the school to support this process with the working party team members. Daniel is highly experienced in leading SWPBS at a school and area level, so the opportunity to have Daniel continue to work with us will be invaluable and greatly appreciated by all at Wollert Primary School.
The implementation of SWPBS typically takes schools 3-5 years to reach ‘fidelity’ where whole school systems are in place and being monitored consistently. While we are quite early in the process of our implementation we are very excited to see that the future will be within this framework.
